Drawing from my experience as a semi-pro player, I've crafted this 60-minute routine to enhance your positional awareness, tackling ability, and overall defensive prowess. Warm-Up (10 minutes):

  • Begin with light jogging and dynamic stretches: leg swings, lateral lunges, and quick direction changes to prepare your muscles for defensive maneuvers.

Positional Drills (20 minutes):

  1. Shadow Marking (8 minutes):
    • Partner with a teammate and practice shadow marking, maintaining a close defensive position without making physical contact.
  2. Defensive Shape (7 minutes):
    • Work on maintaining proper defensive shape and positioning by moving laterally across the field.
  3. Interception Drills (5 minutes):
    • Set up cones as passing targets and practice intercepting passes by reading the play.

Tackling Techniques (20 minutes):

  1. Front Tackles (8 minutes):
